Online Sports Handicapping Services And Websites

Wow! After recently deciding to publish a site on the web to market my services, I have notice while checking out the competition, that most of these "handicapping" sites are just a ripoff. I have read reviews on the different cappers and their sites, and it seems that 85% of what I read was negative. Why go through the trouble of handicapping games if all you care about is marketing and B.S. to sell your picks? Hmmm..maybe that is the problem, some of these "handicappers" do not even bother to actually provide the service that they advertise, they just try to market their name or theme, and hope for the best as far as picking games or horses for their customers.

I have worked in a non-related industry in recent years. It is a service-based type of business in which you market your products and services to people and businesses, hoping to keep them as customers long term. Why go through the effort of getting customers, only to provide shoddy service, lose them and the income that they provide and have them leave unhappy and remorseful? There are some sites out there that have a place for people to go in and post reviews. Why would you risk the chance of being labled a ripoff "service"?

Why not just provide the best possible service that you can at an affordable price and build a large clientele? I would rather have 200 happy customers at a low price than 20 unhappy customers at a ridiculous price who will just leave anyway and possibly spread the word about you online and by word of mouth. All you can do is to try and put your best effort forth when handicapping. The customer should realize that the idea is to win money over the long run and not what happened yesterday or last week. I think that a handicapping service could have a long and profitable life in business if they just followed that theory instead of just trying to "get their money" and move on to the next "live one". My site-www.vegasturfandsports.com, is still under construction, I will be concentrating on that over the coming weeks, but will still try to post a free selection here once in awhile.

If you are a handicapper yourself who may be interested in having your own website to market your service, I have a good friend who will set you up with your own site and help you get started and also provide all of the support services to maintain your site so that all you have to worry about is picking winners. Our members went one for three over at Hollywood yesterday but the winner, Tracker Jack in the sixth race paid $14.40, more than enough to make a profitable day of it. Visit www.vegasturfandsports.com for more information about signing up for our handicapping services which are very affordable.

Today's free selection is the under in the Minnesota-San Diego game. The Twins knocked Greg Maddux around last night scoring 7 runs in 5.2 innings pitched. We think today's game will be a different story with Baker and Banks slated to start. The total is at 8 under 1.25. Recommendation: Under

Free Selection For Wednesday June 25th

We have three strong plays over at Hollywood today and will release one here as our free selection. Go to www.vegasturfandsports.com to take advantage of one of our member packages which are very affordable.

In today's first race, we are going with Helmsgold, number six. He was just edged last time out by one of our winners-Mikey Bones. Helmsgold actually had the lead very late in the race and Mikey Bones came back on him to win. This is a perfect spot for Helmsgold today, and he should prevail and get the day started on a winning note.

We are on a 11-4 run in baseball right now. We have two to three plays every day in baseball over at www.vegasturfandsports. You can try us for 30 days of baseball selections, if you like, for only $99.

Handicapping The Horses-Trip Notes And Track Bias

One of the ways you can get a jump on the competition (the other bettors at the track and simulcast locations), is to keep accurate, detailed records of the things that you see during the running of the races. We call these "Trip Notes" and what they consist of are notations that you can make during or after the race. These notations can be made when you see a horse experience some kind of trouble during the running of the race or at the start. Look for things especially that are not too obvious as the most obvious incidents will be also be noted by your competition, the other astute handicappers in the crowd.

One of the things I like to look for are a bad start, then the horse makes a strong middle move during the race on the backstretch and gets into contention, then falls back late. If this horse comes back within a 14 day period, I give it a strong chance next time out. Also, look for horses in a sprint race that make a fast move of any kind during the middle of the race, especially those races which are the first or second races after a layoff. When they are stretched out next time to a route race and have proven that they can win routing, they deserve a second look. This signifies that the horse is fit and competitive and is ready to win if the trainer is smart enough to place him at the right class level and distance next time out.

Another way to gain an advantage over the crowd is to take note of track bias when it occurs. You can take a look at the charts for each day or watch the replays and take note of any trend toward a certain running style as far as the winners are concerned. If all or most of the winners for that day led or were very close to the pace, the track may have been favoring speed. This is true especially if there were a couple of long shot winners that day that got loose on the lead and were aided by the bias. You can also note where on the track the winners were running; inside or outside. If a horse was making a strong move but came very wide into the stretch against a bias that favored inside early speed, he may be worth an extra look next time out. You can develop a nice "Horses to Watch" list from this method that works well and gives you an advantage when looking at their upcoming races.

You should still apply your other handicapping principles to the races when these horses return, but these two methods will help you uncover some nice winners that the crowd may overlook because they did not do the extra work of taking trip notes and checking for biases.

With yesterday's free selection winning, along with the member's only selections, we are currently on a 7-2 streak in Major League Baseball. Free Selections From Vegas Turf And Sports

Our free baseball total was a winner yesterday as the Dodgers and Reds went over the total bringing our record here for free selections to 63-38-3 on the sports side. Our members selection Ms. Toomsuba ran second at 9-1 yesterday and just missed winning in the second race at Hollywood Park.

Tonight we go with the under in the Reds vs. Yankees game. The Reds travel to New York for an interleague series with the Yankees and face Mussina tonight. The total is 9 and the under is minus 1.20.

We will also release a play at Hollywood for tonight's second race. We are going with number 2, Pass Me The Sugar who is listed at 9-2 on the morning line. Look for a top effort here from this second time starter who has been off over 11 months and ran well as a two-year old last year at Del Mar. The horse returns at a much lower level for tonight's race and has been working extremely well for trainer Brian Koriner.

Free Selection Monday June 16th

We went 0 for 2 on our free selections here yesterday, but our members were treated to a nice one in the sixth race at Hollywood Park when our top selection, Cuffed, won and paid $24.80. What a nice ride Kerwin John gave that horse for us. Our members also had the over in last night's N.B.A Finals game which easily covered for us.

Tonight, we go with a baseball total. We are taking the under in the Boston-Philadelphia game. Good pitching slated here in this inter-league matchup and we can't see too many runs going up in this one. The total is at 9.

I will also wish good luck to Rocco Mediate today in the U.S. Open Playoff with Tiger Woods. Tiger is like nobody I have ever seen play the game of golf, but it would be nice to see a guy like Rocco win this one..for guys like us.

Belmont Stakes And Lakers Vs. Celtics

"That's why they run the race" I've heard that one before. So what may have happened yesterday at Belmont Park as yet another Triple Crown bid comes up short? Was it the heat?
Was Big Brown over anxious when he left the gate? Was it the nagging hoof injury? The connections say no and I believe them.

Okay, so he just didn't have it Saturday. Maybe next year? Guess that is what keeps us going every day. Horseplayers and racing fans are the ultimate eternal optimists. As long as they have tomorrow's racing form on sale somewhere, there is reason to go on and get up tomorrow and try, try again.

Looking at game two tonight in the NBA Finals from a betting perspective is where we go now. Looking at the total on the game which is at 190 or 191, depending on where you look, we like this game to go over the number. Both teams shot below average in game one, the "get to know the opponents defense" game. Tonight's game should be a higher scoring affair and we see the over as the play.

Door Wide Open For Big Brown-Saturday June 7th

The news came early this morning that Casino Drive had been scratched from today's Belmont Stakes due to the injury in his hoof. What could possibly prevent Big Brown from becoming the first winner of the Triple Crown in 30 years? Dennis Of Cork may come closing late, but it will probably be too little and way too late. Tale Of Ekati did show in his maiden win back in July of '07 that he may like Belmont, but what about the distance? He lost several lengths in the Derby towards the end of the race. Icabad Crane looks to be a plodder who only passed tired horses in the last stages of The Preakness.

Nothing. That is the answer to the question of whether Big Brown has any obstacles other than himself and maybe a premature move by Kent Desourmeax to push the button and ask him to accelerate away from his rivals. If he is patient, and waits until the quarter pole before asking the question, we will see a Triple Crown won today. Too bad there is nothing even close to an "Alydar" here to at least make it interesting. Horse racing will enjoy the brief spotlight that this should create, but what about long term?

Just another question to be answered.

NBA Finals Game One Thursday June 5th

We have finally reached the Finals after a long grueling season and we have the ultimate rivalry revisited as the Lakers and Celtics go at it in game one tonight. We have seen all through the playoffs that the totals have been staying under at the rate of 48 to 30 or 61.53%.

This game tonight should follow suit as the Lakers are underrated on the defensive side of the ball. Their defense has been excellent throughout the playoffs. People still tend to think of the Lakers as "Showtime" and generally see them as an offensive minded team only. The Celtics, especially at home, have shown that they can hold good teams below 90 points on a regular basis.

Tonight's game should be "get to know" night for both teams, and until they figure out each other's defensive strategies for this series, the under is the way to lean.

Baseball Free Pick Wednesday June 4th

We have dropped two in a row which is very rare here at Vegas Turf And Sports. We understand the nature of sports betting though and there are bumps in the road in any endeavor. The difference is in how you respond to those bumps.

So we look ahead to tonight's Reds-Phillies game. The bats have cooled off for both of these clubs and we see another under game tonight. The total is at 9.5. Let's see if we can get back to our winning ways.

We lost our game last night as the Reds and Phillies stayed under the total by one run. Not to fear, though as we forge ahead tonight with another play on a total. We like the under in the Chicago-San Diego game where the total is at 9. The Cubs score alot of runs at home, but on the road, they struggle a little. We see a low scoring affair tonight.

We pulled out the W last night as our selection on the under in the Dodgers-Mets came through. Tonight, we go with the over in the Cincinnati-Philadelphia game. Sunday June 1st Free Selection

Tonight's game between the Dodgers and Mets will see two very good pitchers take the mound. The Dodgers will send out Hiroki Kuroda and the Mets counter with Johan Santana. The Dodgers have struggled lately scoring runs and they face a very good pitcher in Santana who has an overall ERA of 3.40 and a record of 6-3 overall this season.

The total is at 8 even right now. We recommend the under in this one. Looking forward to a good pitching duel here.
