Pistons/Sixers Last Night

Just some observations about last night's game between these two. Having made my personal wager on the Sixers plus 5 and over the total of 180 early Friday morning, I tuned into ESPN2 to watch this game, just like millions of others. I am still finding it hard to believe what I saw.

What I watched was the young, upstart Sixers schooling the so-called "second best team in the East" in just about every aspect of basketball. Seemed that every time a shot went up, there was nothing but white jerseys around the basket to rebound and since the Pistons shot under 41% from the field, that occurred often. The Sixers out hustled, out shot and just out played the Pistons in every department. Detroit did contribute to their own demise, of course, with 23 turnovers, 3 for 15 shooting from three-point range and shooting under 70% from the free throw line.

So what is it with this series? Do the Pistons lack focus? Are they complacent? The 76ers are young, playoff inexperienced, and are not supposed to win this series. Just that somebody forgot to tell them or their coach Maurice Cheeks. They do believe they can win and move on to the second round , their fans believe it, and so do I.

As far as the Pistons go, I feel embarrassed for them. They lack focus so far in this series and have apparently not heeded the wake-up call that they received in game 1. If they do not turn this thing around quickly, they will have their asses handed to them and be going home very early.

By the way, I won the bet on Philly plus 5, lost the bet on the over, but it was almost worth it to just sit and root for the Sixers to win the game.

We will take a look at Saturday's matchups and possibly be back with some more free selections.
