Racing Cancelled At Santa Anita- What?

Wow! After all that, the Saturday card was cancelled due to too much rain on the new racing surface. Seems they have drainage problem with the new cushion track. I remember being at Santa Anita back in 1993 and it rained for 5 straight days, and they did have to cancel the ninth race one day because there were huge divots in the track from all the runoff, but other than that, they ran all of the races despite the surface. I remember having a pretty good week there that time.
Too bad this has to happen but it is for the best as far as the safety of the jockeys and horses is concerned. Apparently, the poor drainage causes the wax part of the surface to gum up and it could cause injury to the horses.

We'll get em tomorrow!
